Student Success

The scientific knowledge and skills gained by our students give them lifelong competitive advantages. Students receive comprehensive, personalized mentoring throughout the program and are welcome to ask questions related to college admission and readiness. Certificates of completion will be provided at the end of program.

We don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, we empower students to achieve their goals by quantitatively assessing brain function (e.g. information processing speed, memory, attention span, impulse control, emotional regulation, sleep/wake patterns, work style) and by defining their preferences and goals from the beginning.

Our curriculum is based on a deep scientific understanding of what makes learning meaningful, transferable, and durable. Most students rely on trial-and-error and outdated study and productivity tips in order to get ahead/get work done/excel/etc. Our aim is to teach students effective strategies based on the latest cognitive neuroscience research. Using a broad array of teaching methodologies, we aim to ensure that all students acquire the mastery, skills, and strategies they need to be successful learners and to achieve their maximum performance potential.

Course Curriculum

Each day will consist of 1-2 lectures with interactive examples and discussion points to make the skills and techniques we are learning as relevant and applicable to each student’s life as possible.

An important part of the program is targeted skills training, which will occur during dedicated lab hours and at home between sessions. We don’t just want to throw information at you. We also want to change your brain, to instill new knowledge and habits that will serve you for the rest of your academic and professional career. This takes discipline, effort, and consistent practice.

Fellows will meet with current and former UC Berkeley undergraduate and graduate students, giving them a chance to learn about writing successful college applications and choosing a major.

The curriculum below gives a brief overview of the topics covered week to week. The schedule of topics is subject to change depending on availability of our faculty and speakers.
